Grant and Daniel spent the other Saturday at Atlanta's first annual Gaelic Football and Hurling Youth Clinic, hosted by Clan Na nGael and Na Fianna GAA clubs. Grant had just received his first ever hurley (just 19 inches long) the week before.
He was very excited to play with his hurley with the big kids and to wear his hurling boots. He spent a long time hitting the sliotar (the ball) around the field and trying to hit it in the air when Daniel threw it to him. Then, he took a little break before trying Gaelic Football for the first time.
There were tiny little Gaelic footballs for the kids, and Grant took right to it. He ran all over the field chasing, kicking, catching, and punching the ball.
After practicing on his own for a while, it was time to join the big game. Everyone played from Grant (the youngest) all the way up to the adults. Grant scored a goal, and then all the kids received a Certificate of Completion for a job well done.
